How to label frozen soup?

Does anyone have an easy way to describe the soup with the type and date to be stored in the freezer? I was so sure I'd be able to tell which was which soup, but guess what? No can do. The only thing I, these are the labels you put on file folders, but I do not want to miss my tupperware when they should be deleted. There must be an easy solution without spending much money on some fancy gadgets labeling. Thank you.

Masking tape and a Sharpie. Thus we label things at work. Even with the frozen stuff, the tape stays on but easily removed when it is time for washing. From time to time you really get a bit sticky for some reason, just let that absorb and it will come at once.
