What is the very best way to store bread to keep it fresh? Is there a kitchen gadget available?

Store bread in the plastic bag in which it came. Bread is not a very good storage item, but you can store surplus loaves in the freezer. To thaw, leave on the counter until room temp.

If you’re attempting to store French or Italian bread, good luck. Storing hard-crust breads in a plastic bag will soften the crust make it taste like white sandwich bread.
